The “Escuela” Series at Bar Sótano

Sit down. Drink up. Escuela’s in session.

Bar Sótano invites you to a series of classes in the basement bar, where our beverage team will lead classes focused on agave spirits – what they are, when to mix them and how to throw the most bangin’ cocktail parties at your house.

These are super-intimate gatherings, with about 10 tickets offered for each class, so if you want in you’ll have to act quick.

Sept. 14: Demystifying Agave Spirits

New to mezcal? Think tequila needs lime and salt? Spirits director Lanie Bayless will lead a tasting of the various expressions of agave spirits. Expect to go beyond the basics — you’ll learn about producers, agave species, terroir, distillation methods and so much more.

Sept. 21: Bring Bar Sótano Home

At its core, the Bar Sótano experience is all about beautifully balanced cocktails. Our bar team will show you the tricks of the trade, offering lessons in making infusions and syrups — and how to bring it all together to make killer drinks at home.

Sept. 28: Throw the Perfect Party

Take your hosting skills to the next level. Our team will lead lessons in making batched cocktails — agave punch bowls and other crowd-friendly drinks — and Chef Rishi Manoj Kumar will show you how to make killer company-worthy Mexican apps.
