Natividad Amador (b. 1971)

Born in Juchitan, Oaxaca, in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Natividad Amador is a textile artist. Her work is inspired by the traditional styles of embroidery from the Isthmus, an area well-known for elaborately embroidered women’s ceremonial dress. With great imagination she integrates traditional and contemporary techniques and images. The result is a collection of stunning works infused with images of Zapotec mythology translated into the current-day idiom.
